Norwin High School proudly announces that three of its students, Landon Bacon, Sienna DeJesus, and Jenna Greenawalt, have achieved the highest honor for high school musicians by earning coveted spots in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) All-State Festival music ensembles.
Landon Bacon has been selected for the All-State Orchestra, Sienna DeJesus for the All-State Choir, and Jenna Greenawalt for the All-State Concert Band. Their exceptional musical talents have propelled them to this prestigious achievement, placing them among the best high school musicians in the state.
Every year, thousands of high school musicians participate in rigorous auditions within their geographic regions. Following individual performances before a panel of judges, the top-ranking students advance to compete at the PMEA Region level. Only the highest-ranking musicians at this stage earn the privilege to perform in one of six Pennsylvania All-State music ensembles.
Scott Cullen, PMEA President and music educator at the Octorara Area School District, expressed his congratulations, stating, “Our congratulations go out to the student musicians that have been selected to be part of the 2024 PMEA All-State Festival. There is nothing quite like coming together for a unique performance experience that only the PMEA All-State Festival can provide."
Tim Daniels, Norwin High School Band Director, commended the students for their outstanding achievement, saying, “We are extremely proud of the hard work and dedication of these exceptional students. This honor is a testament to their continued commitment to excellence, and to the support they receive from their school, family, and community."
The selected students will showcase their talents at the annual PMEA All-State Festival in Erie, Pennsylvania, from April 18-20, 2024. Under the direction of nationally recognized conductors, the ensembles will rehearse intensively for two days before culminating in a captivating performance.
