MORNING CARPOOL PROCEDURES
Students who want to eat breakfast at school may be dropped off at Door #12 at 8:30 a.m. All other students may enter through Door #12 after 8:45 a.m. Students must not arrive before either 8:30 or 8:45 a.m. This is due to the limited parking lot space and the possibility that the line of morning drop-off cars may extend onto Taft Street, which could create a dangerous situation with the arriving busses and morning neighborhood traffic.
Drop-Off drivers must follow these procedures:
At either 8:30 or 8:45 a.m., enter the back parking lot from Taft Street.
Drive around the side of the school and stop at Door #12 (or at the end of the line of cars).
Wait for a teacher to permit your rider(s) to leave the car.
Children must get out of the car door closest to the sidewalk. Please allow your rider(s) to do this independently so that you can pull away from the school as soon as possible.
Up to 3 cars can unload at the same time.
After unloading, drive straight ahead to Morris Avenue to exit either left or right. Please use caution as busses may be entering at the same time as you are exiting.
Do not enter the circular driveway at the front of the school. This is reserved in the morning for busses and vans.
In the afternoon, all cars will enter from Taft Street.
All carpool cars will form a double line around the school.
Full-Day Kindergarten cars will line up in a row closest to the school.
Carpool cars with a Full-Day Kindergartener and an older sibling will line up in the Full-Day Kindergarten line.
Cars for students in grades 1 – 4 will line up in the second row. This row will form next to the Full-Day Kindergarten line.
All drivers must turn off the car engines while they wait in the afternoon carpool line.
All drivers and passengers must stay in the car and may only leave the vehicle in order to help children secure their seat belts or close doors.
All children will exit from Door #12.
Kindergarten students and any siblings will be brought to the cars first.
The row of Kindergarten cars will be dismissed.
Then, students in grades 1 – 4 will be brought to their cars in the second row.
The second row of cars will be dismissed.
