Mr. John H. Wilson
Director of Business Affairs
Mr. John H. Wilson has served as Norwin School District’s Director of Business Affairs since 2003. His philosophy of fiscal management is to strike a balance between what is best for students academically and best for the community financially.
Mr. Wilson received his undergraduate degree in Finance and Accounting from Saint Vincent College in 1986, and was employed as a Certified Public Accountant from 1986 to 1991.
He moved to public education in 1991, becoming the Business Manager at the Apollo-Ridge School District, where he served until 1996. During his tenure at Apollo-Ridge, he earned a Masters’ Degree in Business Administration from Duquesne University in 1995.
He then served in the role of Director of Administrative Services at Hampton Township School District from 1997 to 2003.
After arriving at Norwin School District in 2003, Mr. Wilson implemented a new financial accounting system, Skyward, in 2006. He served as Norwin School District’s representative to the Westmoreland County Tax Collection Committee and also the sub-committee that selected that body’s Solicitor.
Mr. Wilson is a 2014 graduate of the Pennsylvania Education Policy Fellowship Program. The Program brought together a diverse group of professionals who were interested in learning more about key policy issues while also enhancing their own leadership skills. Program participants held full-time positions in diverse organizations at the local, state, and national levels. The Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP) is a professional development program for individuals whose work record reflects strong leadership abilities and a concern for issues important to children and education.
